Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Title: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Author: Rick Riordan
Series or Standalone: Series
Genre: Young-adult Fantasy
Format: Paperback
Publication Date: January 1st 2005
Goodreads Summary:
Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a greek god.
I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. Now I spend my time battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive.
This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.
My Review:
If you know me, you know how much I love my Greek Mythology and this book just made me love it even more.
I enjoyed the whole concept of Camp Half Blood, which is the Camp that all Demi-Gods can go to to escape all of the monsters in the real world.
Rick's writing was very honourable and reading from Percy's point of view was exciting, full of humour and something …

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of curious photographs.

A horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.
My Review:
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was a very enjoyable read. I decided to read this book because it had been sitting on my shelf for a very long time and I have heard such wonderful things about it.

Since the thirteenth century, the Codex has been the young Shadowhunter’s best friend. When you’re being swarmed by demons it can be easy to forget the finer points of obscure demon languages or the fastest way to stop an attack of Raum demons. With the Codex by your side, you never have to worry.
My Review:
I started reading The Shadowhunter's Codex about a year ago and never got to finish it, so today was the day and I'm glad I did. It reminded me how much I love this world that Cassandra Clare created! Having read The Infernal Devices Trilogy and 4 out of the 5 books in The Mortal Instruments, I picked up on this Codex fairly quickly. I learnt qui…
